Frozen Toes

I awoke in the wee hours of the morning and hiked up to the top of the mountain in the dark to photograph sunrise. The last bit of ice surrounding the banks of the alpine lake was holding on this day in early August. Even though it was summer the water was cold and my toes were frozen after standing in the water to get up close to the ice formations in the foreground.
