Snowy Sheathbill
We were zooming around in a Zodiac and I was mesmerized looking at all the icebergs floating in our midst. Then I spotted this white speck and realized it was a bird inside a little ice cave! He or she was just hanging out staring at us probably just as mesmerized!
The snowy sheathbill (Chionis albus), is one of two species of sheathbill. It is usually found on the ground and is the only land bird native to the Antarctic continent.
