The beautiful island of La Digue has an array of beaches
for swimming and photographic locations. One that
requires a fun bike ride and short hike is Anse Coco on
the south side of the island. One thing I didn’t plan for
was how hot it was! By the time I arrived to this beach I
was ready for a swim in this beautiful swimming hole.
The granite boulders are strewn about everywhere and
can afford an array of photos if one is willing to crawl up
and around them to compose different images.
Pure Paradise!
On the way to Anse Coco I rested on the way up this
hill. I looked over and saw all the vegetation under the
trees with these HUGE leaves!! I couldn’t help getting
out my camera and try to capture their scale. I was
fascinated by the smaller leaves and debris that these
larger fronds caught. When it rained the leaves served
as an umbrella for anything underneath.
This beach is a great sunrise location, but riding a bike
and then hiking in the dark was not in the cards for this
trip so midday photos were necessary. I reached for my
5 stop ND filter and set camera settings with an ISO of
50, and f 22 to slow down the shutter speed as much as
possible to get blurred wave action. I couldn’t decide if
I liked the horizontal or vertical image, but with this
landscape orientation one can see the vacationers in
the swimming hole nearby.
