Whatever your religious beliefs one cannot deny the beautiful backdrop for this church in the town of Budir, Iceland. Búðakirkja church was erected in 1703 by Bent Lárusson, and is one of 3 black churches in Iceland. The black color is from tar that was used to maintain the wood from the harsh weather conditions. The church has been rebuilt twice and is an active church that photographers visit because of the incredible backdrop of mountains and sea.
