Moonrise Over Commencement Bay
The full moon was rising and I went down to the Tacoma waterfront to capture it! November weather was dreary and cold, but fortunately clear and as the sun cast it’s last rays the moon rose above Brown’s Point.
Tacoma, WA was once thought of as one of the largest lumber producers of the world. Nearly a century ago Tacoma was home to at least 30 lumber mills the ruins of which can be seen today. These pilings are remnants of the Dickman Mill built in 1889. It was in business through the Great Depression and closed in 1977. A large fire destroyed most of the mill in 1979 and it has been deteriorating into Puget Sound ever since. It provides amazing photography opportunities now and adorns Tacoma's waterfront walkway.
