Perspective
I was worried about my ability to complete this hike. It was arduous, but I made it. The clouds were beginning to form near sunset and everyone knew it was going to be incredible. Instead of heading down the mountain we decided to stay for the sunset knowing that hiking in the dark was in store. I climbed upon this boulder putting that out of my mind and enjoyed the view as my sweat dried and regained my breath. I noted this little piece of ice in the melted snow and straddling the puddle allowed it to become a foreground element which reflected the intense glow of the sun. Moving in closely made the ice piece appear enormous. This was an unforgettable sunset and changing my perspective allowed me the opportunity to view it! And... my headlamp worked to get me back down the mountain unencumbered!
